Opportunity

Now is an exciting time to join Trillium! The HR Generalist will be at the forefront of fostering Trillium’s unique culture while serving as a Subject Matter Expert in all areas of Human Resources. From traveling to different sites to assist with employee relations matters to full-cycle recruiting, no two days will be the same in this role. Ideal candidates will be organized, have a breadth of HR experience, be tech savvy, thrive in an environment with changing priorities, have experience with building HR processes from scratch and be a strong thought leader to management and staff alike. Qualifications

  • Experience with managing complex leaves
  • Solid understanding of management and leadership principles
  • Developing knowledge and application of change management techniques and strategies
  • Experience with conflict management and de-escalation techniques
  • Hands-on experience with all areas of HR, both transactional and strategic
  • Ability to diagnose problems and identify and drive appropriate solutions
  • Strong business acumen with client orientation and relationship management experience
  • Knowledge and application of group facilitation techniques
  • Experience with facilitating benefits and working with a third-party benefits administrator
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Teams, Planner)
  • Experience managing staff

 

Preferred qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Current HR certification with 5+ years of experience within an HR management or Senior-level HR capacity
  • Basic knowledge and some experience in organizational design principles.
  • Experience with building an HR Department
  • Experience with a small business and/or nonprofit
  • Familiarity with compliance with county and state contract requirements
  • Familiarity with accreditation compliance
  • Completed coursework, certification and/or experience with Crucial Conversations, Emotional Intelligence, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Project Management
  • Experience with developing and/or facilitating organization-wide trainings
  • Proficient with SharePoint
  • Experience with using a database for HR information functions

Strategic Context: The Bookkeeper is responsible for key elements that support the organization’s operations. This includes a variety of finance duties, most notably payroll, as well as being the first contact for IT throughout the organization.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of Position:

Finance:

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for 90+ employees, including verifying withholdings, deductions, benefits, PTO accruals, and all other pertinent elements are updated and accurate
  • Interface with HR Manager for benefits/payroll coordination
  • File or assist in filing quarterly and annual tax filings
  • Record and process Accounts Payable weekly including employee reimbursements, verifying all expenditures are supported by adequate documentation and approvals
  • Record Accounts Receivable invoices and payments
  • Process bank deposits weekly
  • Record credit card transactions, following-up with credit card holders insuring accurate coding and adequate documentation
  • Assist with annual budget preparation
  • Assist with financial and county audits
  • Assist with system troubleshooting and improvements
  • Work closely with Finance Director on special projects

IT:

  • Troubleshoot technology issues and facilitate solutions with IT provider
  • Manage equipment leases & computer/technology purchases
  • Manage IT budget
  • Manage IT contracts & services
  • Train staff on data security

Administrative:

  • Assist staff with travel arrangements and training logistics
  • Carry out additional responsibilities and special projects as identified and assigned by management

Qualifications:

  • Experience processing payroll
  • Experience and basic knowledge of GAAP; nonprofit accounting experience
  • Experience with troubleshooting IT issues
  • Advanced Excel skills (vlookups, sumifs, pivot tables) is a plus, proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong customer service attitude & ability to develop a strong working relationship with all staff and external customers
  • Ability to remain flexible and embrace a range of different tasks
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgement & sensitivity
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills
  • Highly skilled in organizing electronic files and folders, and improving efficiency

Mandatory Qualification:

  • Must possess a valid Washington State Driver’s License
  • Must possess private auto liability insurance and submit written verification of same
  • Must obtain results in criminal background search conducted by Washington State in order to ascertain whether criminal convictions exist for crimes against persons. Evidence of such shall constitute grounds for immediate dismissal
  • Compliance/completion of form I-9, Immigration and Naturalization Services as required by law
  • Must possess current certification in first aid and CPR no later than three months from the initial date of hire
  • Must obtain a favorable driving abstract from the Department of Motor Vehicles.

This position continuously requires sitting, hearing (using assistive devices if needed), and repetitive motion of the hand/wrists. Working conditions include office work from home or based at our Clark, Kitsap, King, Pierce or Yakima county locations. This position includes a high amount of desk work, sitting, phone and computer screen time in an open and/or personal office work environment. This position requires use of vehicle or transportation to attend meetings/perform trainings in all counties.
