Advocacy, Training and Consultation (ATC)

Get paid to share your skills, experience, and voice.

Have you ever shared your employment story, helped others feel more confident about work, or spoken with a group about your job journey? Trillium’s Advocacy, Training and Consultation (ATC) program is a way for you to be paid for sharing your time and expertise in ways that support others and strengthen inclusive employment.

We know that your lived experience matters — and we believe you should be compensated for it.

Established in 2022, the ATC program was created to recognize the value of client contributions to Trillium’s staff, training, and broader mission. When you participate in activities that help others — not just yourself — you may be eligible to receive a paid stipend.

  • Sharing your employment story during Job Club or Future Friday
  • Speaking at job fairs to help Trillium recruit new staff
  • Providing feedback or guidance that helps train or support Trillium’s services
  • Participating in presentations or panels that advance inclusive employment for all

ATC is not used for activities that directly support your own job search.
For example:

  • Attending a job interview
  • Sharing your resume with potential employers
  • Going to events meant to help you find a job

These activities are about your success — and that’s already part of Trillium’s job development support.

ATC is about recognizing when you’re helping others or contributing to something larger.

  1. Your Trillium staff member will invite you to participate in an ATC activity.
  2. You’ll need a bank account so we can deposit your payment — we’ll help with the paperwork.
  3. You’ll be paid for both preparation time and the time you spend participating (rounded up to the nearest half hour).
  4. You’ll get a confirmation letter after payment is processed, outlining the date, activity, and amount.

Talk to your Trillium staff member or check out our Contact page to ask about upcoming ATC opportunities in your area.

Steve LePenske Scholarship

The Steve Le Penske Scholarship, named in memory of an esteemed educator and former Trillium board president, reflects his commitment to education and advancing the careers of individuals with disabilities.

Watch this video to hear from Trillium client Ashley, who received the Steve Le Penske Scholarship through Trillium, helping her pay for driver’s education. This incredible opportunity empowered Ashley to accept a second job, marking a significant step forward in her career.

Supporting Your Growth Through Education

Looking to build new skills, earn a certification, or take the next step in your career? The Steve Le Penske Scholarship is here to help.

This scholarship supports Trillium clients in pursuing educational opportunities that lead to career advancement — like getting a certificate, attending training, or covering costs for school-related tools or materials.

Steve Le Penske was a dedicated educator and longtime board member at Trillium, serving many years — including as Board President. His commitment to inclusion and learning left a lasting impact. After his passing, his family generously donated to Trillium in his honor, allowing us to offer this scholarship to support your career journey.

The scholarship can help pay for:

  • Job-related training or certification (like forklift, CDL, STARS)
  • Continuing education or vocational programs
  • Tools, books, or equipment needed for school or training
  • Conference or event attendance that supports your career goals

You can also use it with other funding sources. For example, if DVR covers part of your training, the scholarship can help cover the rest.

Any Trillium client with a clear employment-related goal that requires funding for education, training, or job-related tools. You can even apply more than once in different years — as long as funds are available.

Talk with your Trillium staff member to explore if this is the right opportunity for you. Together, you’ll:

  1. Identify the training or materials you need.
  2. Confirm that no other full funding is available.
  3. Submit your request for scholarship consideration.

Once approved, a check will be issued directly to you. Most scholarships are processed within 1–2 weeks.

They’re available year-round — as long as funding lasts.

Whether you’re building a resume, reaching for a new opportunity, or continuing your professional development, this scholarship was designed to support your growth. Ask your Trillium consultant about applying!
