We had our introductory day in Kathmandu, learning about culture, history and the deep influences of Hinduism and Buddhism in Nepali life.
Our afternoon was at the Disabled New Life Center. We did an art project with the residents–art being a great common denominator across culture and ability. Residents have a range of physical impairments and some use adaptive equipment ranging from traditional chairs to a construction hat with a stylus attached for Krishna to use his tablet. Some residents are young and still in school others were older, but we had fun engaging each of them in thinking about what they can do for a job some day.
